Alexandra Orlovskaya is the restorer-painter who has been working in the State Tretyakov Gallery - one of the biggest Russian art museum which possesses a unique collection of Russian art which includes masterpieces which span a period of a thousand years - since 2000. At the present moment she is working in the Department of Scientific Conservation of Easel Oil Painting.

Alexandra Orlovskaya graduated from the State Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts named after Stroganov  - one of the oldest Russian schools for the industrial, monumental and decorative art and design. The school was founded in 1825 by Sergey Stroganov. It specialized in the applied and decorative art. In 1843 the school became state-owned. In 1860 it was renamed Stroganov School for Technical Drawing. For eight years of studying at the department of monumental-decorative paintings she was learning the theory and practice of wall paintings, Old Russian tempera paintings (icons) conservation and the conservation of easel oil paintings. Within the frames of the educational program Alexandra undertook the internship in the conservation studios of the State Tretyakov Gallery: Old Russian oil paintings department, the Department of Scientific Conservation of Easel Oil Painting.

Thanks to her distinguished works Alexandra Orlovskaya was conferred on the qualification of the second degree of the Conservation of Easel Oil restorer-painter in 2001. Over the period of working in the museum Alexandra has performed restoration of the great number of the canvases and panel paintings both individually and as the member of the team. Many of these works became the part of the State Tretyakov Gallery permanent exhibition and the trademark of the national and international exhibiting projects. In 2015 the Committee of the Russian Federation Culture Ministry conferred on Alexandra the qualification of the Conservation of Easel Oil restorer-painter of the highest degree.

The preparation and the realization of major international exhibitions with the participation of the State Tretyakov Gallery is the integral part of Alexandra professional activity. She took part in more than 30 international exhibiting projects in 14 countries of Europe, America and Asia.

Over the years of my museum and private practice Alexandra Orlovskaya has got great experience in using both traditional methods based on natural animal glues and modern synthetic materials and vacuum technologies. She has regularly accomplished the operations aimed at the lining and the consolidation of the canvases, the correcting of the deformation and the loss of the paint layer. She has the experience in reconstructing and the restoration of small and big canvases.
